Forests Ontario just pulled a national power move, rebranding as Forests Canada and going full throttle on its mission to protect and restore forests across the country 🌲.

Since its founding back in 2014, Forests Ontario has been the local legend in reforestation, planting trees and championing forest health across the province 🌎. And it’s not just about getting trees in the ground—Forests Ontario is all-in on the full supply chain, from sourcing, seed-banking, and planting to maintenance and public education.

Between 2001 and 2023, Ontario experienced a loss of 5.86 million hectares of tree cover, representing an 8.2% reduction in tree cover compared to the year 2000, according to Global Forest Watch. So, yeah, the need is real 🪵.

Now, they’re suiting up as Forests Canada to tackle challenges from coast to coast, with a new focus on climate resilience, biodiversity, wildlife habitats, and sustainable support for local economies 🌍.

One big-ticket item on their to-do list? The federal 2 Billion Trees (2BT) program. Forests Canada is on board to plant 31 million trees across Ontario by 2031 🌳. That’s not just about keeping squirrels happy—it’s about crafting healthier ecosystems, giving endangered species a place to call home, and making tree-planting way more affordable for anyone looking to add some green to their property 🌱.

With Ontario as the starting line, Forests Canada has officially gone national. Just this past year, they planted 380,000 trees in Alberta, 200,000 in Nova Scotia, 70,000 in B.C., 60,000 in New Brunswick, and 5,000 in Manitoba 🌲. And they’re not doing this solo.

Forests Canada is teaming up with Indigenous communities, conservation groups, and local governments to build a coast-to-coast network of reforestation warriors 🪴. These partnerships empower local communities with the knowledge and tools to plant trees, encouraging widespread participation in reforestation efforts and sustainable land stewardship.

So, here’s to Forests Canada on this epic new journey. May their mission grow as big as their trees—and may future generations thank them for the extra shade 🌱🌞.
